The book is written by fictional writer Dean K Brent. The book Literary Betrayal is a fiction written by Casey Bell, which tells the story of the aftermath of Dean writing the book Essays. The woman continues,
Let me tell you something I grew up in a messed-up family. When I was growing up my dad was a Jewish Nazi and my mother was a Catholic pastor who would preach down at the Methodist church not far from our home. She would preach to my dad about Jesus and my dad would tell her to shut up. It just didn’t make any sense to me why they ever got married in the first place. Let me tell you I was one messed up girl. But after reading your book I am changed woman. I have come to realize we are not our parents, we are not our family, and we are not our relatives. We can truly come into our own and be our own person. I just want to thank you for sharing those essays. If you write another one, don’t be afraid to use my story. I won’t be mad at you. And I won’t sue you either. Sharing our lives is what we need to do.
This was an interesting read - a set of fictional essays from ten dysfunctional families. Then Betrayal is the fictional fallout from writing said essays. It's a clever idea really, one that I found interesting in the first book but then I (curiouser and curiouser) almost HAD to read Betrayal to read the responses. They are not 'novels' in the stereotypical sense of the word, think more short stories. I enjoyed each unique 'essay' and that person's response.
I recommend these books for readers 18 and older.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Goddess Fish. I am voluntarily leaving my review and all opinions are my own.
