My Review:

What a great book with an important message! This picture book shares how difficult it can be to be grateful, especially at the Holidays when we don't have things the way we expect them to be. It can be hard to say your prayers. It can be hard to be positive. But it also shares how blessings come sometimes when you least expect them and you can find gratitude for them. Although this book is aimed at little people, it has a big message for everyone.

MY PET GHOST - What Do You Think Will Happen Next? by Rich Linville

"One night, I am walking in the forest and what do you think I see?" To find out, have fun reading this ghost story with a happy ending. Try to give your answers to the questions before you turn the page. Your answers can be different or the same. Have fun making up your own stories about a pet ghost.

Review:

This fun Halloween book is low on the frightening scale and high on the imagination engagement. Each page gives the listener a chance to pause the tale when they hear a certain sound and decide what THEY think they should do next. The pictures are bright, colorful and silly and as it's an audiobook, there are fun, non-scary sounds. Jo Warren's melodic voice goes throughout the book as the narrator. She makes you want to listen, giggle and smile. Perfect for littles and lovers of children's Halloween stories.

Rice & Rocks by Sandra L. Richards – $50 Giveaway #Giveaway #PictureBook #CulturalDiversity

Rice & Rocks
by Sandra L. Richards

Tradition takes flight in Rice & Rocks, a picture book celebrating culture and diversity.

Giovanni’s friends are coming over for Sunday dinner, and his grandmother is serving rice and beans. Giovanni is embarrassed—he does not like “rice and rocks” and worries his friends will think the traditional Jamaican dish is weird. But his favorite Auntie comes to the rescue. She and Giovanni’s pet parrot, Jasper, take him on a magical journey across the globe, visiting places where people eat rice and rocks. This exciting story celebrates the varied traditions of every culture while also highlighting the delicious similarities that bring us all together.
Praise for Rice & Rocks

“I feel as if Rice & Rocks was written for the 7 year old me stuck in a foreign country. I wish I could have read it when I was a kid since it would have really helped me to feel a lot more comfortable with my roots, my traditions, in a foreign place with people of other colors & customs.”
Melissa Robles, The Reader and the Chef

“Rice & Rocks is a beautifully illustrated, culturally diverse children’s book centered around my favorite topic…food!…Parents will enjoy reading it with/to their little ones because the illustrations compliment the story perfectly. This book will also work as a good conversation starter for acceptance of self and others for school age children.”
